Piano master class with Ian Parker



On May 5, 2012 the Penticton Academy of Music hosted a piano master class with Ian Parker.

Six enthusiastic students registered for the piano master class with Ian Parker that was held in Penticton BC on May 5, 2012.  Each student played their selected piece through before receiving one-on-one coaching from the wonderfully articulate Parker.

Ian Parker is an Canadian pianist of international renown.  He began his piano studies at age three with his father, Edward Parker, who was also a pianist.  He holds both a Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees from the Julliard School, where he was a student of Yoheved Kaplinsky.

He has appeared with the Buffalo Philharmonic, Calgary Philharmonic, Cincinnati Symphony, CBC Symphony Vancouver, Cleveland Orchestra at Blossom, Edmonton Symphony, Greenwich Symphony,  Honolulu Symphony, Jacksonville Symphony, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony,  Louisiana Philharmonic,  Mobile Symphony,  National Symphony,  Quebec Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, and the symphonies of Toronto, Victoria, and Winnipeg among others.

In 2005-6 Parker was invited to collaborate with the internationally renowned Vogler Quartet, and has continued to tour with them regularly ever since.   In 2009-10 and 2010-11 he toured with violinist Augustin Hadelich in the US and Canada.

In 2010 he recorded three concerti with the London Symphony under Michael Francis, released by ATMA Classique; and an all-fantasy solo CD on Azica Records, including the fantasies of Chopin, Schumann and Beethoven, was released.
